Brackley Away Match Report.
National North 01/01/17 (3:00 KO)
Happy New Year Everyone at Fylde & what a start to the New Year.
We started our journey from Blackpool as Tom Fletcher, Brett Roberts & I left a local establishment to join the others on the bus. Picking up en route the journey flew by and we even had time for a quick drink at Bradley’s en route.
Will Rowe won the football card again (he will be banned if he wins again).
On to the ground and a great atmosphere was building and the one thing that stood out was the amount of Coasters that were there. Not this many had travelled to see Fylde since Ferriby in the Play off final.
J’ames & Willo out as well as midfield maestro Sam, meant Fylde were down to the bones in a tough game.
Nothing to shout about early on as both teams get the measure of each other, Fylde enjoy soaking up any pressure these days because of the way we counter attack, Rhys makes a great save on 20 mins, our defence is standing firm and Dom & Josh are ready for every high ball in as Macca & Tom clear everything away, hoof another long ball into the fylde box but once again its cleared, not the best of halves but Fylde have dealt with the long balls and wayward shooting.
An unbelievable Chorley Goal early doors (so Ben Anderton told me) puts Chorley 1-0 up, this has a great response from the Coasters as we start to get the ball down and try and play on this awful pitch. A corner on 50 is whipped in ny Jonny Bravo and local favourite Superdom heads home for 1-1. They fylde fans go mad and there are plenty of us. Fylde breaking all the time now and our counter attacking is fantastic at times as Caspar and Bondy are everywhere. Brendan gets stuck in but receives a yellow card for a solid tackle. Bo is running at Chorley and space is now appearing, the wing looks our best option and we look fitter and stronger.
Then on 64 Macca gets away and finds space for a cross to Jonny Bravo who sends a fantastic header over the keeper for 1-2 to the Coasters. The players celebration is fantastic for all us Coasters to see. A challenge by Marcus Carver from Chorley leaves him with a broken nose on 66 and the players leave the pitch for a while, Josh is up and back on, Carver is replaced. Songs of “we can see you sneaking out and 1-2 in your cup final prove popular”.
Heading into injury time, Matty Hughes replaces Brendan who put in a decent shift. Straight away Matty wins a free kick and Fylde look fitter and stronger and in search of 1 more goal. Baker comes on for Bo who also played well in this team performance.
The on 18 minutes Mr Fylde passes to Jonny Bravo who passes to former Chorley player Andy Bond for 1-3. The players and fans go wild, so does the Bench.
The whistle goes and Fylde celebrate on and off the pitch, the players come over and applaud us, its a mutual respect. Chally as passionate and happy as a kid on christmas day morning. Super Dom man of the match although Dan Bradley was also superb.
